In our Physical Theatre training we explore and experiment with the multiple possibilities of contemporary theatre: between playfulness and depth, collective arrangement and inner experience, vitality and form, etc. Is it theatre, dance or performance? We propose a hybrid training in which the boundaries are blurred but the body always remains at the centre. The training aims to reflect the reality of contemporary aesthetics and the sometimes unorthodox nowadays’ creative processes.
Body / Experience
The body is the departing point in Physical Theatre. It is the mean, the material, and the goal for artistic expression. A body can play with inner phenomena as well as become an outer surface of representation. The training begins at the intersection between inside and outside, experience and expression.
Play
We understand play as an indispensable condition for the preparation for theatre. We will practise the willingness to get in touch with oneself with genuine curiosity, as well as getting in touch with other participants at different levels (physical, energetic, emotional, intelectual, etc). Communication patterns and possible responses are explored.
Transdisciplinarity
We combine different sources to complement classical theatre training with elements of contemporary dance, performance art, installation, philosophy, visual arts, somatics, etc. The same exercise can have very different approaches and changing the point of view is a very effective tool to reveal aspects that we may not have been aware of.
Performance
The ability to act as a performer requires commitment, disposition and a sense of aesthetic communication. Differentiating performative time from everyday life, and using this distinction meaningfully, is key to developing skills for theatrical action.
