How can a pre-defined movement a container that can hold many different things, rather than a problem to solve and master? How can we find space for ourselves, for our own poetics, for play with each other and for encountering the world within short sequences of set movement material?
Forms & Experiments uses movement meditation, improvisational tasks and somatic explorations while practicing and repeating forms. The class is intended for beginning as well as experienced dancers who want to revisit their relationship to set material.
Magdalena Meindl is an improviser. For a long time she avoided set material, because a) she wasn’t very good at memorizing and b) she felt like she was losing connection to her inner dance and music when learning steps. In recent years (not least through the continuous practice of Kalarippayattu), she discovered a new relationship to forms and set material, which opened up new possibilities in her own dance.
In 2017, Magdalena graduated from HZT Berlin. As a choreographer and dancer she works in collaboration with numerous artists and groups, their work has been presented at Tanzfabrik Berlin, Tanzquartier Wien, Goethe Theater Bremen and many other places. www.magdalenameindlsite.wordpress.com
